For ages now, I've been a Marvel fan. But ask me if I've watched all the Marvel films out there, and I'll quickly change the subject to something totally different... like food. All this is to ask that you please bear with me when I come clean about not watching either of the previous Guardians of the Galaxy entries. And I apologize profusely because only recently (yesterday) did I watch Volume 3 and fall completely and utterly in love.
I blame my friends and family for not being persistent enough to put the movie on. And also, I'm sending many thanks to the one person that finally got me to watch it late last night!
Okay, enough jibber. Shall we dive into exploring volume 3? Here we go.
My, Oh, My
These creatures roam about like they own the place. Some alien. Some animal. A few humans. They speak English, not the foreign languages Marvel comes up with that sound insane. These creatures are a community that drinks beers together and laughs at each other's jokes until an unknown hostile invades their little haven. He's super strong, and it takes the whole city to take him down. But in the middle of the tussle, Rocket is injured. (Rocket is a very smart raccoon, but don't let him hear you call him that.)
Plenty of Action, and Then Some
To save Rocket's life, the guardians must embark on many crazy missions. Some of these are massive enough to span a whole Marvel movie, like the one I watched recently, Transformers. I feel Marvel could break apart each of the missions into individual movies and still have a decent entry.
I Am Groot-Bye
Anyway, the film is absolutely incredible! I cannot believe I haven't watched any of the previous ones. Needless to say, I'll be binge-watching all of the previous entries in the coming weeks. There wasn't a moment where I felt bored. In fact, I would laugh my ass off plenty of times, which is so refreshing, given how Marvel isn't particularly great with comedy. There are some pretty dark moments, too. I nearly cried.
Marvel had to make a great movie, though. Because it's apparently the Guardian's last run on the big screen. Saying goodbye hurt like hell toward the end of the movie, even if I had only just joined this beloved band of misfits. Nay, especially because I had just joined the ride!
Will there be another Guardians of the Galaxy? Is this end? It can't be! I'd love to know what your thoughts are. And feel free to check out our “Finally Watched Breaking Bad, Only the Most Badass Show Ever! Here’s What I Think” article while at it. Love and light!
